Research interests

The goal of my research is to improve the understanding of physical processes during an earthquake and during the seismic cycle. For this, I combine two approaches: the analysis of surface deformation data  with theoretical and numerical modeling of the earthquake rupture. My research aims at addressing the following questions:

  • Why do faults slip? What are the mechanical processes behind slip?

  • How can we identify and quantify slip events in seismological and geodetic observations?

  • Can we identify, in surface data, unambiguous signals that explain such mechanical processes ? How would we use them in estimating earthquake hazard?
